联邦调查局特异事故处（FBI UIU，或FBIUIU、FBIUIU等），以其最突出的基本理念而论，是联邦调查局内部致力于调查超常或与超常相关的犯罪的部门。总体而言，它明显借鉴了电视剧《X档案》中同名档案的设定。然而，随着网站本身的发展，大家对UIU的解读也发生了变化，这为作者们提供了广阔的尝试空间。

在大概十多年之前，UIU最初的形象是一个经费不足、效颦于基金会的警察组织——这也是[[span class="ruby"]]“没U一点用”[[span class="rt"]]UIUseless[[/span]][[/span]]这个绰号的由来。叙事上，它被塑造成反面典型，用来衬托基金会的预算和能力，给基金会以“用‘常态’维护安全”之名存在的合理性添砖加瓦——无论是在世界观内，还是针对这些故事的潜在读者。本质上说，一个模式化的“沙包”角色，与早期被刻画成“泛用反派”的混沌分裂者类似。这些故事往往像是对《X档案》中较劣剧集的夸张化演绎。

在网站历史的相当早期，其他作者就意识到了这一定位独特的相关团体（Group of Interest）有着其他未被发掘的潜力。那时，为GoI所设的背景设定与高人气故事们对相关团体本身和整个维基而言都有着极高的黏性。因此，一种中间立场应运而生：UIU并未完全摆脱“没U一点用”的名号（现在，这些作品里的这一短语已经被当成了侮辱性的称呼，无论其准确与否），但也承担起了“时代中穷且益坚的弱小者们”这一角色。一些作品聚焦于这些组织的品格和其中的小人物们，但也从基金会中心的视角将他们框定为怪人。这些作品往往更精准地吸纳了《X档案》的特点。

随着维基内标准的不断变化，早期的系列解读逐渐淡出，取而代之的是更为细腻的GoI诠释——其中一些甚至几乎完全甩脱了“没U一点用”这一绰号。新近出现的对UIU的解读倾向于突出在他们这个体量或预算水平上的整体能力，甚至可能过度强调此类特质，以回应那些长期且仍然存在的刻板印象。有些故事甚至贴近了《黑衣人》中对类似团体的描绘，完全摒弃了弱者形象。尽管如此，为了促进点子和故事的重混，维基近期对作者的自由发挥持包容态度，这催生了一批新故事，新奇地融合了各种不同时代的UIU形象。

个人认为，叙事上，最好将UIU用作SCP基金会维基的异常世界中的一个独特视角，它几乎可以说是潜在读者们的一个完美替身。UIU的探员们天然知晓异常的存在，但或许并不完全了解世界或异常整体上的细节与知识。他们甚至可能对基金会的内部措施也一无所知。对新读者来说，这些特质导致他们更可能和一名UIU探员产生共情，而不是一位基金会研究员——例如《X档案》的Fox Mulder探员或《双峰镇》的Dale Cooper探员，虽然他们的境况和经历与大众全然不同，但仍能像普通角色一样令人产生共鸣。

当然，一无二随，你可以随意使用UIU！我只是希望这些话能够帮助作为作者的你重新审视UIU，并试着去避免将UIU刻画为（现在已被认为是嘲弄的）“没U一点用”的形象。祝你好运！
