午时三刻，2025年地点竞赛的预热帖由[[*user Universe647]]准时发布。地点竞赛将于5月1日正式发布中心页面，并于5月15日开放投稿。
竞赛规则的大框架和[[[2023-canon-contest-hub |设定竞赛]]]类似，参赛选手需要组成3-5人的队伍，在赛程期间投稿至少五篇参赛作品。投稿数低于五篇的参赛队伍将不被纳入最终结算，而多于五篇的参赛队伍将会以其最高分的五篇之总分进行结算。但和设定竞赛的主要不同之处在于，本次竞赛需要你围绕世界观内的一个地点进行创作。你可以从头开始创作出一个新地点参赛；或者你也可以选择已有的地点参赛——只要这个地点没有标签，且该地点的最初发起者存在于你的队伍内，或你的队伍中的至少一名成员已经获得该地点的最初发起者的明确写作授权。除此之外，本次预热帖也提前透露了一个主题：**出路**。
什么是地点？根据主办方[[*user Universe647]]和[[*user Kcorena]]的定义，“地点”（Location of Interest）需要具有稳定的领土或存在范围。这一范围在数据上可以模糊化，但在此次竞赛中，你不能将其设定为超过广义上的“一个国家”。同时，必须拥有居民聚落。这些居民应该至少拥有高等智能。此外，创作的地点不能是，Site或Area、位于其他已存在相关地点内的子地点、以及从其他站外作品中照搬过来的联动地点。
作为久违的组队竞赛，预热帖不仅作为赛制和主题的告知，也作为组队酒馆发挥作用。任何有志参加比赛，有地点有关点子的写手均可以在该帖下发起组队邀请或加入已存在队伍。

[[*user qntm]]透露，新版内容经过全面改写，篇幅远超原版，并得到专业编辑协助。原版仍保留于SCP官网，供读者免费阅读。他表示，移除SCP元素是"艰难但必要"的决定，同时强调对SCP创作社区的热爱与尊重。
此前，[[*user qntm]]独立出版的实体书已于2024年9月底从亚马逊下架。新版将在英国、北美及全球大部分地区发行。

比赛规则的细节仍在制定中，但目前他们正计划将比赛分为 “Safe”、“Euclid”、“Keter” 和 “Other” 团队，以提交文章的总评分决出谁是最强的项目等级。允许一个人在多个团队中参赛，并也将设立个人奖项，将奖品颁给每个类别中最高分作品的作者。

“后裔”一说从何而来呢？[https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/descensus 维基辞典]对descensus有两个英文释义：“a descending path”，向下的道路；以及“a descent”。descent这个词有“血统，后裔”的含义，“descensus”自然就是“后裔”。那么，“在后裔之后”的，就是比后裔更后的“后辈”——虽然“后生”这个词有些奇怪，但“后辈”的意思应该是大差不差的。
问题似乎解决了……吗？
如果你还记得，种加词的意义是修饰词，如“rex”表示“像君王一样的”暴龙属，而“sapiens” 表示“具有智慧的”人属。那么“后裔智人”——什么是“后裔的”？如何将这个词理解成一个形容词？或者说“像后裔一样的”，那又是什么意思？有后裔就有先代，它们的先代是“什么”智人？在基金会和作者的文字中，这些问题没有答案。

由此，我们厘清了“后裔”之谜，也知道descensus的真正含义应该是“下降”。这确是个形容词了——然而它似乎还是没甚么道理。难道叫它“降落智人”吗？

好了不开玩笑了。为了收容从灵体世界，或称“阴间”溢出的灵体实体（俗称“灵魂”），同时获取到那个利用灵体实体出老千的神秘女人，两个赌鬼联合一个不靠谱的占卜师与一个巨大机械应用部的职员搞出来了一个海上邮轮，并将之装扮为“海上新葡京”——是的，你没听错，海上新葡京赌场！听起来很荒诞，是吧，关键是他们还真的抓到了正主，顺便收容了那一堆溢出的灵体实体。虽然方式……可能不太道德，嗯。
当然了，如果仅仅是如此的话那未免也太无聊了。输钱之后的不甘，应召调查的不耐烦，对赌博的狂热，乃至于对心血杰作——海上新葡京赌场的满意，这种种的种种，都可以在本曲中找到映照（基金会成分可能例外）。搞钱？那肯定是赌钱最快啦！毕竟嘛，有钱能使“鬼”推磨，否则这艘海上邮轮怎么可能在开业之后就“鬼”流涌动？乃至于将正主也给吸引过来了？
只要你不输……那就万事如意！
（当然了，如果你输到身无分文，那除了幻想赌777逆天改命然后把自己的命也给搭进去成为赌博“死人的”一语的某个不起眼的脚注之外，实在是难以想到其他可能性。毕竟，赌鬼的心态……嗯。）
