**特殊收容措施：**SCP-8353目前无法收容。任何SCP-8353病例应被立即置于基金会监管下。
**描述：**SCP-8353是一种医学异常，其特征为考夫曼引擎启动器自发显现并嵌入到对象的颅骨基底处。SCP-8353的显现会与受影响对象陷入长期昏迷同时发生，亦或就是其直接诱因。
考夫曼引擎启动器是一种现已淘汰的活塞引擎点火机制，最常见于第二次世界大战期间的军用飞机及载具中。这种设备会通过射出一发霰弹弹壳来产生高压气体，从而推动引擎的转轴。 标准使用中，会在其插槽中装入一枚弹药，以铰链盖密封，而后用锤子击打之。
SCP-8353个体映射了这种设计。一个钢制弹药插槽会被嵌入对象的枕骨中，并以一根短钢管直接与脑干相连。受SCP-8353影响对象的大脑活动会降低到近乎于无，陷入一种近似冬眠的状态，其代谢率、心率、体温都会降低，且停止产生排泄物。因此，有可能存在过往对象被错误推定为死亡、而非遭受异常病症的情形。很多实例中，引擎启动器会被毛发遮挡，让辨认变得更加困难。
**附录8353.1：**测试
基金会在SCP-8353显现于Site-17研究员Cody Clemente后发现其存在，前述文件在此发现不久后撰写，现已召集Site-17人员评估何种行动方案更为适当。有研究员提出，这种引擎启动器很可能与其原本功能非常相似，可被用于激活意识，也即“启动”Clemente。
在Clemente颅骨基底内的SCP-8353插槽中装入了一枚霰弹枪弹壳。用一小型钢盖封住插槽后，用锤子击打该装置。Clemente的头立即发生爆炸。复苏行动被认定为未成功。
